Biography

Socorro Lira won the Brazilian Music Award in 2012 and was nominated in 2016 and 2017. Socorro Pereira, and Socorro Lira, as an artist, was born in hinterland, city of Brejo do Cruz, state of Paraiba, northeast of Brazil.Poet, songwriter, singer, musician and producer, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from the State University of Paraiba. At first, she was self-taught at the guitar, but later on she studied classic guitar and its techniques at the Arts Department of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Paraiba. She lives in São Paulo, capital, since 2004.

Awards
Socorro Lira won the Brazilian Music Award for best regional singer in 2012 and was nominated in 2016 and 2017. This is the country’s most important music award. She also won the Wind vane Award as best song for “Pata humana pata” (Paw human paw) from the Culture FM Radio – Solano Ribeiro’ s Show from 2013. In 1998 she won the 98 Europe Award fron the “Associazone Senza Frontiere”, from Lentate Sul, Seveso, Milan, Italy
